Taking E-Commerce Where It Has Never Gone Before
By Bharat C 9/4/2008 11:28:00 AM

If you own an automotive dealership, one of the best ways to sell cars is by using eBay. For years, the most effective way to reach local buyers was through newspaper classifieds. Then, along came the Internet and dealerships were able to post their products online, offering potential customers far more information about the car than a two-line classified ad ever could. However, the Internet is vast, and it’s often difficult for some customers to find a specific make or model during a Web search.

That’s where sites like eBay Motors comes in. Ebay has made it easy for buyers and sellers to find each other. Sellers can list their cars online, provide as much information as needed on the car, and even post photos to supplement their information. Buyers, on the other hand, can conduct a search based on car type, make or model.  They can even narrow their search results to include those cars offered within a specific range of their zip code.  Listing vehicles on eBay provides sellers with huge exposure to a national audience.  Who knows?  Maybe no one in the range of your zip code range wants to buy that ‘71 Nova, but perhaps someone living hundreds of miles away is longing for an old muscle car. You may think that there aren’t many people willing to buy a car sight unseen. (You may want to think again).  EBay motors currently sells a passenger vehicle every 56 seconds.  And, if you’re worried that selling your car on an auction site will bring in less profit than what you had hoped for, relax. EBay has a built-in reserve system that allows you to set your reserve price.  If the winning bid falls short of the amount you anticipated, you’re not obligated to complete the sale. Also, if you happen to find a buyer outside eBay you’re free to close the auction early.  (It’s all up to you).

ShopVisibleTM gives automotive dealerships the ability to automatically list their inventory on eBay.  All pictures and content relating to the vehicle (that would normally appear on your own Web site), can now be transferred directly onto your eBay listing. This new tool gives dealers the ability to quickly create multiple listings on eBay, while exposing their vehicles to a much larger audience and greater potential for a quick sell.

That car that’s been hanging around your lot longer than you’d like may be just the vehicle someone outside your local selling area has been pining for --- and may be more than willing to pay premium price for that exact make and model.

What are you waiting for? Get out there and let ShopVisibleTM and eBay help you sell those cars!
