We have given you the questions to ask your candidates and outlined the most important qualities to look for. Once you've found the right person to run your commerce activities - how can you best support them for tremendous success? Put powerful technology in their hands!

The best laid plan is only that, a plan, if you don't have the right tools. Your commerce platfrom should support your business goals and keep you competitive in the marketplace. Here are a few items you should think about when it comes to your commerce platform:

How comprehensive is the solution?

  • Will you be able to take advantage of a multi-touchpoint commerce strategy, including social and mobile commerce?
  • Does the platform contain all of the functions that are core to running a commerce business such as reviews, promotions, inventory management, order management, shipping, and more?

Will the vendor be a true partner and advocate for your growth?

  • Does the vendor measure your success or just their own?
  • Do you have a voice in the continued evolution of the platform?

How innovative is the provider and at what cost to you?

  • How frequently does the vendor push new releases?
  • Are they on the cutting edge?

How extensible is the platform?

  • Can you continue to leverage existing processes?
  • Will you receive consultative guidance in establishing these connections?

In the end, it all comes down to finding the right matches in both the people to drive your commerce strategy and the platform to equip your team with the right tools for success. The commerce industry is rapidly evolving, primarily driven by the ever changing demands of the buyer. Make sure your organization is able to capitalize on these new opportunities by having the right teams and technologies in place. Ask the tough questions to ensure you get what you need and then enjoy the benefits of a commerce match made in heaven?
